Introduction
If you have made a payment for services and can see a duplicate payment or a pending authorisation on your bank statement, this article explains what it means and what to expect next.
Why this happens
A pending authorisation is a temporary hold placed by your bank when a payment is attempted. It is not always a completed charge. In many cases, the authorisation is removed automatically once the final payment is processed or if the transaction is not completed.
What you may see on your statement
- One completed payment and one pending authorisation
- Two pending authorisations, with only one later converting to a completed payment
- A pending authorisation that disappears after a few days
What to do next
- Check whether the payment was completed successfully in your account or booking history.
- Wait a few business days to see if the pending authorisation is released by your bank. Usually 5, more with Klarna.
- If you still see two completed charges after the pending authorisation has cleared, contact support with the payment date, amount, and any reference number shown on your statement.
Important note
The time it takes for a pending authorisation to disappear depends on your bank. We are unable to remove a bank authorisation directly, so you may need to contact your bank for more information if it remains longer than expected.
