Digital Service Records (DSRs) are becoming increasingly common as manufacturers move away from traditional paper service books. Here’s everything you need to know if you’re using ClickMechanic and want to keep your digital service history up to date.
🚗 What is a Digital Service Record (DSR)?
A DSR is an online log of your vehicle’s service history. Instead of a physical stamp in a booklet, the service details are stored electronically in the manufacturer’s secure system. This helps protect against fraud and ensures a reliable record of maintenance.
DSRs are commonly used by:
- Audi, Volkswagen, SEAT, Skoda
- Mercedes-Benz
- BMW & MINI
- Toyota & Lexus
- Mazda
- Nissan (select models)
- Ford (newer vehicles)
🧰 Can ClickMechanic Mechanics Update My DSR?
In most cases, no. Most independent garages, including those on the ClickMechanic platform, cannot access manufacturer systems required to update DSRs directly.
However:
- Certain manufacturers may authorise some independent garages and could update DSRs—if this is important to you, let us know and we’ll do our best to accommodate.
- You will still receive a detailed invoice and service report from your mechanic via ClickMechanic, which can be used as proof of work done.
