What if a customer asks for a VAT invoice and I’m not VAT registered? How do I issue a VAT invoice to a customer?
If a customer requests a VAT invoice, it is your responsibility as the mechanic to provide one if you are VAT registered. ClickMechanic does not charge the customer directly, so we do not issue VAT invoices. Instead, we send a booking receipt, which cannot be used for VAT purposes.
If You Are VAT Registered:
-
You must provide the customer with a VAT invoice reflecting the full amount they paid.
-
Ensure the invoice includes your VAT registration details.
If You Are Not VAT Registered:
-
You cannot issue a VAT invoice.
-
If a customer requests a VAT invoice after the work is completed, explain that you are not VAT registered and therefore unable to provide one.
